A visit to the city of love just wouldn’t be complete without spending an evening watching the sun set over this iconic city. One of the top spots to relax and watch the sunset is from the steps of the Sacré Cœur in Montmartre. Many tourists and locals flock to the steps below the Sacré Cœur every evening at dusk to watch the sky change colors as the sun dips below the horizon. Bring a bottle of wine, some macaroons and good company to relax and enjoy the beautiful view. With the Sacré Cœur towering behind and the majestic scenery in front of you, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a long day exploring the many wonders of Paris.

When my husband I lived in Iowa and traveled to Mexico each January for our “winter thaw,” we would often have to fly out of Minneapolis or other midwestern cities for the best price.At home we lived in a wooded neighborhood, so did not see the sun set on the horizon unless we drove out of town a ways to catch it. One year, due to the timing of our flights both coming and going we got to watch the sunrise on our way to Minneapolis and the sunset on our way home from the airport over the cornfields of Iowa — all the way to the last drop of sun ray on the horizon. We always made time while on the island to watch the island sunsets over the ocean or the sun rise early in the mornings. In both cases,the Mexican “sun sightings” could NOT match the Iowa full-horizon sunrise and sunset.Never again would I wait until Mexico to look for the sunrise or sunset.I take time to relish the beauty of nature–a gift from God.

Watching the sun set is one of my favorite things to do! It’s always so beautiful and unique with different colors and shades every night. The Midwest definitely has some of the most beautiful sunsets, we are lucky! I would love to watch the sunset in Mexico one day, it sounds wonderful 🙂 Thanks for reading, Rhonda!
