Neuschwanstein Castle in Photos

Neuschwanstein Castle is a palace on a hill above the village of Hohenschwangau in Bavaria, Germany. You can walk up above the castle and get gorgeous pictures of the castle and the surrounding landscape. It’s such a beautiful, picturesque location and is one of the most popular castles in Europe and I definitely understand why.

If you’re in southwest Germany you must stop by and see Neuschwanstein Castle for yourself. It’s a gorgeous area during all seasons, I hope to return one day and see the castle and the surrounding landscape blanketed in snow.

  1. Have you seen the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? It’s featured in that quite heavily. It’s also the inspiration for the Disney castle, I think. I find it amazing it was only built 150 or so years ago!

  2. I have been there and it was one of the highlights of Germany for me. It is a glorious castle and the surrounding area is no less wonderful. The story of Ludwig is compelling and mysterious. The walk up the road is steep for those that might have difficulty walking. Well worth a visit. Thanks for the beautiful photos that remind me of my visit there years ago.

  3. Wow, that is an amazing castle! Thank you for your wonderful photos and giving me a glimpse. I will probably never see this in person, but being an author/writer I can easily spend time in my imagination dreaming up what life might have been like inside such magnificent walls!

I really loved the photo of the waterfall, too. I am a sucker for waterfalls big or small. πŸ™‚
